The Furoshiki was originally a traditional japanese wrapping technique using a cloth to carry objects, clothes, gifts, food, etc.
The Furoshiki Vibram shoe was inspired by this technique so that it could wrap itself easily around the foot and so that it could prefectly fit its shape. The result is great flexibility and much better comfort.
The Furoshiki shoes now offer a real alternative to town footwear and even sports shoes by bringing more flexibility, freedom and lightness to your feet.

The Furoshiki is the japanese art of ‘’packaging the products by wrapping them in cloth’’.
The designer Masaya Hashimoto drew inspiration from this art to invent the Furoshiki shoe. He is its conceptor ; and the idea behind this shoe is to achieve an anatomical adjustment on any type of foot.
TTechnically, this is a sole that wraps around the foot and that allows natural and unconstrained movement for each step you take, all the while being as comfortable as being wrapped in a soft and stretch blanket.
In its most basic form, it’s a dream shoe, minimalistic, without shoelaces, that can be worn and fastened in one motion.
The Vibram society introduced in 2015 its Furoshiki line of shoes which look like nice and very light sneakers of a new kind, they and are gaining many new adepts, in part thanks to their stylish look but especially thanks to the supreme comfort they bring.
The Vibram Furoshiki are considered as « exterior soles that slide around your foot ». They are made with soles that have a dynamic structure instead of normal static soles.
The shoe’s design is made so that the sole possesses a thin pocket on the front part that covers the toes, a counter on the back to hold the heel and two pieces of cloth on either side of this sole.
To put on the shoe, you first have to put your foot into the thin pocket and place it against the counter. Once the foot is locked into place, you just have to fold the two pieces of flexible lycra cloth on both sides of the foot and to use the velcro at their ends as an attaching mechanism on the heel.
Vibram les commercialise comme chaussures décontractées, idéales pour le voyage et pour une Vibram sells them as casual shoes, ideal for traveling and for daily use. Some find that they are an excellent alternative to sports shoes. Whatever way you use them, they are very beautiful shoes with an amazing design and extremely comfortable.
There is one word that is used unanimously from the users, and it is ‘’COMFORT’’.
The Vibram shoes are indeed made to be light and comfortable.
We like :
-The low 140 weight and the great flexibility. They can be folded and stored in a very small bag. They are ideal for trips since they don’t take up a lot of space.
-The thin and stretch material allows the toes to freely move which is particularly pleasant, forthermore, they allow the feet to breathe metter.
-The fastening which we can adapt the way we like it
-Great for running, dancing, or other low intensity physical activities.
-They give a new dress style
We don’t like as much :
-The foot has a tendency to slide on downward slopes
-Not adapted to intense sports
-Not adapted for the winter
The Furoshiki shoes can be worn absolutely everywhere and can be used for almost everything.
This is a matter of personal preferences.
A lot are using them for daily activities like going to work, doing the groceries, taking waks, etc. Others use them without any problems for indoor sports activities such as martial arts, dance, gymnastics, yoga, and others. They can very well be worn for nights out for more comfort especially when dancing and to add style to someone’s look.
Nevertheless, the point of a minimal shoe is to allow the bones, joints, muscles, nerves, blood, lymphatic vessels of the foot to move and nature is the perfect place for that thanks to the natural grounds which are rarely flat. The Furoshiki shoes are then the perfect compromise for trips in a natural environment.
They are good shoes that are to be worn first and foremost when you’re looking for comfort, whatever the way you want to use them.
